As recruiting winds down with a bang, quarterback Marcus Vick is next on the docket, with a press conference today at 3 p.m. Vick, out of Warwick High School in Newport News, is the last of the top 10 players in the state of Virginia to announce his choice.

There is some speculation circulating that Vick's press conference will be carried on ESPNews this afternoon, so those of you who subscribe to ESPNews can keep an eye out for that.

Yesterday, the Virginia Cavaliers received commitments from #1 Ahmad Brooks, #3 Kai Parham, and #6 Michael Johnson, giving them five of the top 10 players in the state. This was offset somewhat by a commitment to the Hokies by #15 Darryl Tapp, a Deep Creek defensive lineman who picked the Hokies over Maryland and Florida. But there's no denying that the Hokies took it on the chin yesterday. They were not in the running for Parham and Johnson, but the Brooks decision was a shock. Most Hokie insiders thought that if Brooks was not VT-bound, then he was Tennessee-bound.

Notes on Individual Players Still on the List

DL Darryl Tapp: Tapp told his coaches the news yesterday and was not supposed to publicly reveal his choice until signing day, but the Roanoke Times reported his commitment just 45 minutes after Brooks committed to UVa.

DL Jimmy Williams: Williams had previously reportedly eliminated Alabama and narrowed it down to VT and South Carolina, but he told BamaOnline.com yesterday that it is now down to VT and the Crimson Tide. Williams is still scheduled to announce Wednesday morning.
