Ahmad Brooks to Announce Today
And Other Recruiting Notes

Linebacker Ahmad Brooks, the top recruit in the state and the USA Today National Defensive Player of the Year, will announce his college choice in an afternoon press conference today.

Brooks, out of C.D. Hylton High School in Woodbridge, Virginia has a press conference scheduled for 3:00. TechSideline.com sources are mixed on the Hokies' chances with Brooks. One source says that Brooks has eliminated Virginia from his list and will choose between Virginia Tech and Tennessee, but speculation continues to swirl from other quarters that Brooks may be UVa-bound.

Very important note: to avoid loading the server and message board, TSL has set up a status page for Ahmad Brooks that will be updated as soon as his announcement is known. Please click here to view the Brooks status page, and note our request that you only click Reload or Refresh every minute or so. Please do not click Reload over and over and over on the page this afternoon.

We will do something similar tomorrow for Marcus Vick.

Notes on Individual Players Still on the List

QB Marcus Vick: as noted, Vick will announce his college choice in a 3 p.m. press conference Tuesday. Despite the positive signs about Vick heading to VT, the Hokie coaches are not taking him for granted and continue to recruit him hard.

DL Darryl Tapp: Tapp told Rivals.com that he has made up his mind, but will not announce it until a press conference the morning of signing day (Wednesday). Tapp was very nearly Maryland-bound, but some things have happened recently to swing some momentum back in VT's direction. No one knows for sure what he'll do at this point.

DL Jimmy Williams: Williams told Palmetto Recruiting Sunday afternoon that he favors the Hokies but will not announce his decision until signing day. All indications are that Williams, a JUCO player, is a monster who could contribute significantly at the Hokies' depleted defensive tackle spot next year and the year after.

WR Josh Hyman: Hyman told Rivals.com that he will not decide until well after signing day. He has not yet academically qualified, and he wants to get himself qualified before making his college choice. He is being recruited by Tech, whom he favors, and Syracuse.
