Hargrave Notes: Norman Says He Has Qualified November 19, 2009 Hargrave Military Academy's postgraduate squad escaped Fork Union today with a 6-0 win. Following the game, Virginia Tech recruits Theron Norman and DeAntre Rhodes took some time to reflect on the experience at Hargrave and to update their situations in terms of enrolling at Virginia Tech in January. more
Standout Junior Hoping for VT Offer This Weekend November 19, 2009 Former Kempsville (Virginia Beach, VA) standout Trenton Hughes signed with the University of Maryland in February of 2007 and is now a red-shirt sophomore defensive back for the Terrapins. Travis Hughes, a 6-1, 215-pound running back/linebacker, has the opportunity to follow in his brother's footsteps and play college football. Travis, a junior, starred at Kempsville this season and has earned two official FBS offers to date. more
FBS Programs Pursue T.C. Williams Lineman November 18, 2009 T.C. Williams (Alexandria, VA) went 5-5 this season, narrowly missing out on the school's first playoff berth since 1990. Head coach Dennis Randolph will return some talented players next season, led by highly recruited junior offensive/defensive lineman Jay Whitmire. more
Dinwiddie Junior QB Delivering Solid Season November 17, 2009 Dinwiddie (VA) junior Chris Hall had never played quarterback before high school. One day his freshman year, a Dinwiddie coach asked him to come out and try out at quarterback. Showing off his arm strength by throwing an 80-yard pass, Hall was quickly moved to quarterback and earned the backup spot to all-everything signal caller Adam Morgan last season. This season, the 6-4, 220-pound prospect has been the leader of the Generals offense and has done well. more
Lewis Reschedules VT Visit November 16, 2009 Bishop Kearney (Rochester, N.Y.) tight end/defensive end Jerome Lewis will not be in Blacksburg this weekend as previously planned, but the 6-4, 230-pound Tech recruit has scheduled an official visit. Lewis, who has yet to visit the school he committed to in May, will be in Blacksburg for the first time ever next month. more
Catching up with OL Caleb Farris November 12, 2009 Caleb Farris' senior season was a tough one, as the 6-4, 295-pound offensive lineman battled a hamstring injury throughout while Rockbridge County (Lexington, VA) went winless on the year. Up next for the Virginia Tech recruit is a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for the Offense/Defense All-America Bowl, something he is certainly excited about. more

Farmer to Start Setting Visits November 10, 2009 6-4, 265-pound tight end/defensive end Ethan Farmer, one of the top remaining uncommitted senior prospects in the state of North Carolina, concluded his high school career last week and will now work towards figuring out where he will attend college. The talented prospect boasts double-digit scholarship offers, but there are some programs that have impressed more than others as he figures out where he will visit. more
DeMatha Notes: VT Requests Film on Junior November 9, 2009 Nationally recognized prep football program DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, MD) has eight seniors with at least one FBS offer, including three that have committed to major FBS programs. The talent continues to flow in for head coach Bill McGregor, who'll likely have a powerful program for seasons to come. more

Senior Season Update: E.L. Smiling November 5, 2009 E.L. Smiling turned in a solid performance last season as a junior, hauling in 24 receptions for 391 yards and five touchdowns on the year. The 6-3, 185-pound Virginia Tech recruit has about 30 receptions in nine games in 2009, but he is also showing well on the defensive side of the ball. more

The 6-7 senior has never wavered in his commitment, but putting an official stamp on his decision will be an exciting moment. more
Hokies Pursuing Hargrave Offensive Tackle November 2, 2009 Defensive back Theron Norman and defensive lineman DeAntre Rhodes are currently the only two recruits Virginia Tech has at Hargrave Military Academy, but head coach Frank Beamer and company hope to add another. The Hokies have offered 6-6, 300-pound offensive tackle Laurence Gibson. Gibson, an inexperienced but talented offensive line prospect out of Sierra Vista, Arizona, is currently considering seven scholarship offers. more
Top Junior DT Talks Tech Offer October 29, 2009 Virginia Tech was one of the programs Warren Central (Indianapolis, IN) defensive tackle Kris Harley grew up following, so he was excited when he learned last Thursday that the Hokies were offering. He received the official letter from Tech on Monday. more
Junior Season Success Continues for Turner October 28, 2009 Three games into the 2009 season, 6-5, 310-pound offensive tackle Landon Turner, returning from a broken ankle that kept him out of the entire 2008 season, felt good about the way he was performing on the gridiron. Five games later, the Harrisonburg (VA) junior says that he has continued to improve throughout the year. more
Two Official Visits Down, Three to Go? October 28, 2009 Roanoke Rapids (N.C.) defensive end Kareem Martin has now taken two official visits, and at this point the likelihood is that he'll make more before committing to a school. The 6-6, 240-pound senior, one of Virginia Tech's top remaining targets in the 2010 class, says he "most likely" will make all five official visits. more
Star Junior CB Up to Three Official Offers October 27, 2009 5-9, 165-pound cornerback Demetrious Nicholson is an important piece on a Bayside (Virginia Beach, VA) defense that is allowing an average of only 9.5 points per game. The speedy standout junior has gotten the attention of college coaches and is drawing interest from a number of FBS programs. Currently, three FBS programs have come through with official scholarship offers. more
Tech Becomes Warren Central OL's First Offer October 26, 2009 Warren Central (Indianapolis, IN) junior offensive tackle Kiaro Holts was one of the more impressive prospects at Virginia Tech's July 11th camp. His performance in Blacksburg paid dividends last Thursday, when the 6-5, 280-pound prospect received an official scholarship offer from Frank Beamer and company. more
Robinson Notes: Laiti Shines Against Westfield October 23, 2009 Robinson (Fairfax, VA) linebacker Brian Laiti turned in a monster 2008 season, racking up 147 tackles including five sacks as a junior. The 6-3 1/2, 205-pound prospect continues to impress and, according to Rams head coach Mark Bendorf, may have turned in his finest performance on the high school level in a 21-20 loss to Westfield on Monday. more
Big-Time Junior LB Continues Success October 22, 2009 Hermitage (Richmond, VA) star Curtis Grant caught the attention of head football coach Patrick Kane as just an eighth grader.
"I saw him playing basketball. He was so much more physically mature than the other guys out there," said the Panthers varsity head coach.
Grant, now a 6-3, 220-pound junior linebacker/tight end, burst onto the varsity football scene late in 2007 and has since developed into one of the most highly recruited players in the state of Virginia’s 2011 class. more
Leal, Atlantic Rebound from Tough Loss October 21, 2009 Senior quarterback Mark Leal and his Atlantic (Delray Beach, FL) teammates were highly confident heading into a match-up against Dwyer High School several weeks ago, only to come away on the losing end of a 47-7 decision. Atlantic has rebounded with two consecutive wins, beginning with a thrilling 47-36 victory over Park Vista on October 9th. more
2011 Profile: Lake Braddock's Michael Nebrich October 20, 2009 Lake Braddock (Burke, VA) head coach Jim Poythress, whose team is 5-2 so far in 2009, boasts one major college recruit in his senior class in offensive lineman Khamrone Kolb. Kolb, who committed to Penn State on Sunday, may not be the only major college prospect on the roster, however, as Coach Poythress is also high on the talents of junior quarterback Michael Nebrich. more
