So, if there were a $50 million endowment for WBB at a school, and
none of it were spent in a particular year, nothing out of it would show
up.
I am not sure of why this is so, but the private schools do not make a
detailed reporting breakdown. That is the reason they are missing in the
reference report.
It looks like the guidelines for reporting the breakdown of expenditures
are less than ideal. But, the totals may have been instructive in 2006.
The UVA large expense was attributed in one publication to a one-time
capital cost.
I think the accounting reported to NCAA must take into account booster
contributions. Those contributions do not necessarily show up as
expenses in the same year.
