I don't doubt some people did not view VT as a choice destination but,
the situation was trending positively and I suspect those with favorable
and improving perceptions of the program were just as prevalent as the
negative ones you cite. VT was performing well in the Big East and the
change to the ACC address added to the positive trend. I believe
people expected some adjustments in transition and the first couple of
years in the ACC can be explained as adjusting to a new conference
and a change in style of play. I also believe that most expected the
ACC address would help with recruiting. While overnight improvement
wouldn't be realistic I don't think most would expect it to take too many
years. Do you have more questions about the program as it exists
today than you did the year after BH left for Kansas?
