previous staff, or the staff before that or the staff before that. VT is not
thought of as a destination by the high profile players. When I
mentioned VT to a top HS coach that I worked with several years ago
as a potential destination for some players, it was dismissed as if the
player was better than that. Now, that player didn't end up going to a
school that is better than VT. So the image was there. And it was not
that just that coach.
As we have discussed before, it takes winning to establish a program
as an attractive destination. The current staff can make VT a desirable
destination. They have not proven that they can not not more than the
previous regime did. Time will tell but it is NOT this regime's fault that
VT may be perceived that way. But it is on them OR the next coach to
show that VT can be a destination of choice.
It takes that one commitment...then another....Marquie Cooke bought
into Greenberg as his first high profile recruit. No matter how it worked
out, that is what it was. Cornell Brown was Beamers.....then they have
to over-achieve and win.....and more came.
