Ever wonder what all those funny acronyms used by the TSLMB (there's one) old-timers mean? Wonder no more, pilgrim, just check this handy-dandy list. If there's an acronym you've seen on the board that is not explained here, then email Will Stewart at will@techsideline.com and let him know.

  • **: Also * or ***. Indicates that the poster has said everything they had to say in the title. See also NFM and NM.
  • AD: Athletics Director.
  • AG: Al Groh, UVa head football coach (see also FB).
  • ATS: Against the Spread.
  • BE: Big East.
  • BTTS: Brooks Traded to Saints. Taken from TheSabre.com boards. This means you're posting old news.
  • BTW: By The Way.
  • CAP: Comprehensive Action Plan. VT's document for controlling and legislating VT athlete's behavior.
  • CT: Collegiate Times, VT's student newspaper.
  • DC: Defensive Coordinator.
  • DSU: Dopey Scissors University. UVa. From the term Dopey Scissors, referring to how the crossed swords on UVa Sports logos look like scissors with the handles turned inside out.
  • FB: Frank Beamer, VT head football coach.
  • France: UVa. TSL posters often call UVa "France" because they like whine and cheese, they're stuck-up/snobby, and they give up without much of a fight.
  • Fredo: Boston College. Bestowed upon BC by Notre Dame, It's a reference to a Godfather character.
  • FYI: For Your Information.
  • FUMA: Fork Union Military Academy. Nearby College Prep school and frequent Hokie pipeline for Basketball and Football recruits.
  • FWIW: For What It's Worth.
  • HC: Hokie Club or Head Coach, depending upon usage.
  • HH: Hokie Hotline.
  • IMO or IMHO: In My (Humble) Opinion.
  • IIRC: If I Remember Correctly.
  • IIWII: It Is What It Is.
  • IRT: In Reference To or In Regard To.
  • J/K: Just Kidding.
  • JW: Jim Weaver, VT athletic director.
  • KAK: Kool-Aid Krew. Derisive term used to indicate a "blind" follower of VT Athletic Department interests and policies.
  • KJ: Former VT tailback Kevin Jones.
  • LOL: Laughing out Loud. A common response to funny posts. Often used in conjunction with ROTF, i.e. ROTFLOL.
  • LMAO: Laughing My [Butt] Off. Used interchangeably with LOL. Often used in conjunction with ROTF, i.e. ROTFLMAO.
  • MBB: Men's basketball.
  • MNC:  Mythical National Championship (NCAA football). The teams don't really play for it, like they do in NCAA basketball, so it's "mythical."
  • MOV: Margin of Victory.
  • MV1 and MV2: Michael (MV1) and Marcus (MV2) Vick.
  • NATT: Negative All The Time.
  • NFM: No Further Message. Indicates that the poster has said everything they had to say in the title. Once caused controversy as some readers/posters thought it meant "No F{expletive}g Message." See also NM and **.
  • NM: No Message. Indicates that the poster has said everything they had to say in the title. See also NFM and **.
  • NSFW: Not Safe For Work. Might include nudity and/or cursing.
  • NTTAWWT: Not That There's Anything Wrong With That.
  • OC: Offensive Coordinator. Some are more offensive than others.
  • OT: Off-topic. (We frown on these, given that we have a zillion boards.)
  • PATT: Positive All The Time.
  • POTW/POTY: Post of the Week/Year.
  • POV: Point of View.
  • RATT: Realistic/Reasonable All The Time.
  • ROTF: Rolling on the Floor. A common response to funny posts. Often used in conjunction with LOL. ROTFL is Rolling on the Floor Laughing.
  • RTD: Richmond Times-Dispatch - the Richmond Newspaper. Also RT-D.
  • RT: Roanoke Times - the Roanoke Newspaper. Also RTWN.
  • RUTS: Running Up The Score.  
  • SG: Sean Glennon.
  • SOS: Strength of Schedule.
  • SIR: Sorry if Repost.
  • SSDD: Same Stuff, Different Day.
  • TIA: Thanks in Advance.
  • TIC: Tongue in Cheek. Not serious.
  • TMI: Too Much Information.
  • TOB: The Other Board (as in Football Board), or alternatively, NC State head football coach Tom O'Brien.
  • TOS: Message board Terms of Service.
  • TSL: TechSideline.com.
  • TSLMB: TechSideline Message Board.
  • TT: Tyrod Taylor.
  • UWS:  TSL's hidden United We Stand message board, used for discussing the war against terror, politics, etc.
  • WADR: With All Due Respect.
  • WAR: This is not an acronym. It's a general cheer, as in "Hooray for ... "
  • WBB: Women's basketball.
