No, make that more like 2.5 things; so here goes...

1. I (now) have reason to believe that a silent handshake is in place regarding the next head football coach. You may regard that as an implicit and unpublishable pseudo coach-in-waiting. Or at least that is what that coach and those close to him think.

1a. HOWEVER, and that is no small however, said silent-handshake has occurred under both Frank Beamer and Jim Weaver. It is my current thesis of thought; barring a major health swing in either gentlemen (and God Bless on that); that there will very likely be a new A.D. in place when Frank does finally step down. The quote of "young minds -- fresh ideas" rings to mind. Who knows what a new A.D. prefers? An N.F.L. guy? His guy from a former school? In-house? A up-n-comer? Anything could be in play here.

2. When to retire?
If I am Frank, I play that as a major "win one for the (retiring) Gipper" mid to late-season theme. All the more so if my final year looks like a run at a MNC one.
