That would further destabilize the B12,IMHO.

No way TU and ND can get along...egos way too big.

And even if they could, what college that was really worth a damn would want to hang around for the scraps from those 2?

Which brings me to the central question, "What is the basic purpose of conference membership?"

Bringing in ND as a special case destroys the reason for belonging to a conference.

The BE was/is a conference in name only.

o BB teams that don't have FB teams.

o FB teams that don't have BB teams (early VT membership)

o ND partial membership.

o Unequal payouts to all members.

How has that worked out for them?

The B12 is a defacto conference, since TU demands a bigger cut of the pie and all championship games are played in their state.

TU also gets a greater payout due to its LHN.

They just lost 4 quality members and are scrambling to find 2 more, so they can have a championship game.

So I don't see the need to destabilize the ACC, by copying templates that have failed.

Only stable conferences can survive, and destabilization for short-term monetary gain is going down the wrong path.

Which brings up the real purpose of the SEC-B12 champ game.

Beyond money, it was to try and destabilize the ACC.

The SEC to solidify their dominance in the south and the B12 to try and pry ACC members to their conference.

Smart move, but the latter didn't work, and the former needs to be addressed by the ACC by winning on the field in big games.
