I like the winning percentage idea. I also think that there should be an rule that if ND plays fewer games and loses to someone with a higher winning percentage, and the extra games (losses) caused the other team so slip behind ND, then the said team should still be ahead of ND. In other words, if ND wants to play in the CG, they'd better win all their conference games.

If we did do this cockammamy plan then it should be win % based, not inter-division record based. If it's only based on division record then you've turned your conference mates into out of conference competition. Not interested in that at all.
