I can't say i've been completely in your shoes but I know the feeling of not getting what you think is right when it comes to a diagnosis. My wife spent 6 years battling crippling stomach pain. She probably saw the gastro about 7-8 times a year along with hadfulls of blood work and a few cat scans and ultrasounds. Also a colonoscopy and endoscopy. AFter years of hearing about IBS and other dead end assumptions she pushed it to her OBGYN for an exploratory surger for endometriosis which found all kinds of scar tissue from a past diverticulitis infection. NEVER SEEN BEFORE from the inside. Size of a lemon. Had 8-10 inches of colon removed and all has been perfect.

As for the beer, I would love to bring you some IPA! However it would be tough from MD to NC! I will though raise a glass tonight of 90 Minute straight from the unopened growler filled in Rehoboth earlier this week.
