I heard Bonnie wanted to return to the state of Kansas. Also, I heard Bonnie was basically driven out. Which is the truth? Also, I wonder where the woman's program would be now if Bonnie was still here.
I don't have any inside information here, but I don't think it was that complicated. The Kansas AD had previously built the women's program at UConn. He decided he wanted to build one at Kansas, and he decided Bonnie was going to be his coach. He offered her $500k, double what she was making at VT. Weaver said, "Enjoy your new job." No way was he basically going to commit to losing another $250k on women's basketball.
