UM, UVa, VT and UNC all have much more in common with the B1G public research school model than they do with many ACC schools.

I know VT wouldn't exactly be at the top of the academic rankings in the B1G, but we wouldn't be at the bottom either. GT might be a more desirable choice I suppose, but damn, I wonder if these thoughts are on the B1G radar?
yeah, if the B1G calls, i think umd (DC metro) and GT (ATL) are the top 2 choices. easy locations to get in and out of, huge media markets and surrounding populations, and, for the Presidents, AAU members with huge research budgets. now if they could get uva and UNC to bridge the gap, i'm sure they would, but i think UNC would have to be pried out of the ACC, possibly killed first, and uva wants to stay tied up with UNC, so it wouldn't happen IMO. no one goes to 16 with out ND IMO. once ND helps someone get to 16, i could see others following suit if the right scenarios played out, but no one wants to box out ND until they know they are off the table.
