Bigger Olympic Achievement.......

Asked this question to an older guy at work today what he thought and he went with the Miracle on Ice (he is around 65 years old) Im am 26.....


Anyways, in your opinion, what was/is the bigger accomplishment (achievement) at the Olympics - Jesse Owens in Germany in 1936 or the Miracle on Ice in 1980??

Owens was the better athlete and his acheivement was only notable because of the African American vs Nazis political angle. He was expected to win by everyone outside of Germany.

The Miracle on Ice was similarly political because of the cold war but was also a huge upset. No one gave the US any hope in the Tourney. It was a bunch of college kids playing and beating professionals (what you thought the red army team practiced marching and riflery)
