My take. He is OK but certainly not on the same level as some of the other conference commissioners - B1G and PAC. When it comes to football, he has been playing a very weak hand given (a) how bad the ACC is in football over the last 8 or so years (b) there are no football strong schools that fit the ACC profile that he could possibly attract. So.., given that the ACC's entire strategy has been to get ND, I am not sure what else the ACC could have done.

I do think that you could find fault with JS in 2 areas though (1) The first round of ACC expansion. Why he felt like BC, Syr, Miami were better selections than VT is beyond reason. Yes, I am a VT homer, but even a non-biased observer would say that. (2) The most recent TV contract negotiation.

I will also give him credit for seeing that he had to expand the ACC - but even that was not that visionary as almost anyone could figure that one out ;-) If he can pull off ND for all sports and launch an ACC Network modeled after the B1G Network than I would give him a 8 out of 10. If he gets neither than I would give him a 3 out of 10.
