Sounds like the old BE (or current BE) bowl scheme. Tie in ND to increase attractiveness of conference to the bowl officials. If that is the case its says much about the sorry state of the ACC if ND is being used to sweeten the pot with the Orange Bowl. I hope I am reading this wrong.

Orange bowl deal with the ACC is done so no need for ND to sweeten the pot for the OB.
