my thought is that rutgers is the best fit for many reasons. maybe it is my anti-metro glasses but i prefer rutgers over all the candidates for 16...

academics
location (whole new market and yes, they don't own the market and might not be the 'team' in the market but they are an entry into it). add them and SU and it means more precense in that area.

uconn is a mess and will be a bigger mess soon.

athletically...they play d1 lax...have had very very good womens bball not uconn but geno won't be there forever. they can have a decent football program. i think they could be better than uconn in the long haul. they aren't uconn in men's bball but they are not as slimy. with all that has happened at miami and unc lately...would the conference agree to a school that is much closer to sec territory than anyone else?

your conference is a group of schools that you wish to be associated with. a mutual support network.

also...which school would nd, su, pitt, and bc prefer? how they present information and back channel information will be more important than we think.

how do the presidents get along with uconn and ru presidents? are there any business ties between any of the schools and either of them. our ties to wake, ncsu, uva, and md played a much bigger role than others thought at the time.

Otherwise, the move would have to be largely speculative, based on things like: enrollment, academics/compatability, support, fan base, TV footprint, legacy.

A lot of folks talk about UConn or Rutgers, but the arguments for each are lukewarm at best. Considering the geography of adding ND, I'm wondering about Cincy. Thoughts?
