You just made a huge mistake, one I fear the selection committee will make to.

You're judging a team on past performance, something that you shouldn't do when discussing whether a team should make the playoffs. You need to look at one season, not what the team has done in the past. If Boise goes undefeated without playing anyone in the top 20, and Alabama loses a game on the road to an 8-4 in state rival after playing two top 5 teams (which could realistically happen - see Ark/LSU/Bama last year), you have to decide what's more impressive: an undefeated team that has played (relatively) subpar competition, or a team that has more quality wins, but also a not-so-great loss.

Neither is a wrong decision IMO, What is wrong is putting BSU in because they've 'done this 5 times now and haven't gotten a shot.' To me that's the same as saying Bama won the title last year, so they must be good this year.

This is why I favor some mathematical formula/some requirements established before the season starts.
