Older Hokies: When did you first have air conditioning?

In 1965 my Dad bought a new Pontiac Catalina (huge trunk). Within a year he installed an A/C unit under the dashboard (he also sold and serviced appliances). It was awesome. About 1967 he istalled a window A/C unit for the house. Before that you had to endure summers in a vehicle with the windows down and with a fan in the house. That was always the way it was and you didn't think/expect otherwise. Also, TV consisted of an antenna receiving only 3 channels. Yep, the "good ole days".

Moved from Long Island to Richmond in 1960 and A/C became necessary. We got it in our car and started with 2 window units in the house
