At least with Seth, you had a Top 25 recruiting class last year and he was on track to bring in Harrell (one of the highest rated recruits to come to VT), Wood and the Cincy kid that got his release from Duquesne (guard). Those three along with the returning members of our team would have made a serious run at an NCAA bid this season. Seth had 4 20 win seasons in the past 6 years (and 1 19 win season) so he's been a winner at VT.

This post isn't a knock on JJ and I think that Phreak (like me) is more concerned with the family in Jamerson that is pulling the basketball strings than they are with JJ's ability. That being said, to make statments like "we were not going to make the NCAA tournament" with Seth at the helm and then say that you have "high hopes" on a 1st year head coach makes very little sense.
Yadda Yadda Yadda, CSG could not put teams in the NCAA tournament. I don't care how many cupcake 20 win seasons he had, they mean nothing in the grand scheme of college basketball. If you are not making the tournament, you are not progressing (and you are obviously not doing something right). CSG's resume showed that he was not putting his teams in the tournament. You can argue why his teams were not going to the tournament until the cows come home, but he WAS NOT GETTING IT DONE.

I feel very confident that Seth was not going to lead the current team to an NCAA tourney, with or without DFS. As for Harrell, who knows how that would have panned out. Like Chaney, I don't base opinions on people that never even put a jersey on for the Hokies.

As for saying that I have "high hopes," why not? Why would I not have high hopes? Should I root against him? Should I assume he is going to suck?
