No way UConn gets an invite before ND actually accepts.

And why invite UCONN at all? Rutgers is much bigger school, similarly ranked, and with bigger research money. If Calhoun retires and UCONN tanks in basketball, we'll be wondering why we bought that lemon.

Rutgers would make more sense since they are in a state that covers media markets inboth New York and Philadelphia. As for Notre Dame and revenue sharing, could the ACC base football revenue sharing on performance (wins, top 25's, playoffs, major bowls,..)? Every ACC member would receive a base revenue annually and an extra share of the pie at the end of the football season depending where you finish. Number 1 gets more money than number 2 and so on. It would motivate members to perform better on the field in order for their schools to get extra money. The same could be done for men's basketball which could possibly motivate Tech to invest more into the men's basketball program. Just a question, I seriously doubt it would ever be approved by a majority of the ACC members. Plus it would probably cause corruption as schools will be pressured to win more games. This system would doom Miami and UNC football programs forever.LOL

Count me in the Rutsgers camp too.

You're talkin' a lot, but you're not sayin' anything
When I have nothing to say, my lips are sealed
Say something once, why say it again?"

Basing payout on football performance would be tricky, because bball matters too....
Basketball might be the draw for only 20% of our total TV revenue (a total guess), but schools like Duke and UNC are probably the cause for half of our basketball-originating revenue. Duke probably has an argument that they are at least of average value to the conference. So if you pay them the least amount because they suck in football, it probably would not reflect their true value. No, it just doesn't seem like an ACC kind of thing to do.
The ACC has two problems: Wake and BC. They add almost nothing to the TV contract, add travel and/or a dead game to everybody's schedule, they are known for excelling in unprofitable sports, and they consume 1/6 of our conference revenue. Without them, the ACC payout would probably equal the mythical B12 payout.

If you remember, the big least had the revenue sharing plan you list for football. That was the main reason Miami had to get out. They did fine when they won the conference, but their athletics program ran in the red when they did not and it did not allow them to budget properly. Everyone needs a steady, predictable amount coming in to be able to budget properly.
