if football was where all the money is at, the decisions would be simple. for example VTs research budget has increased by well over $100 million per year since joining the ACC. is that attributable exclusively to being in the ACC? no. but it is part of the picture. you don't make moves without considering everything. same for ND. i can see why the Big 12 would be attractive to them for football, but not much else. do you move your high dollar home into a lower rent neighborhood to save a few bucks on electricity?

ACC basketball is tops, but how many people wait all week to see one of your games? My guess is nobody other than ACC fans and do 100,000 show up?. LSU baseball is pretty darn good, but other than ourselves does anyone really care? LSU used to OWN men's and women's track and won national championships regularly, but even I as an avid fan did not know that until our coach left for Texas A&M.

It is money. That is all it is. And that is a shame.
