That allows the Irish to win their pod almost every year, and the VT pod is chock full of local rivalries. Every pod is competitively balanced to some degree, and travel would only be really bad for the extreme northern and southern pods.

I can't for the life of me believe Notre Dame would commit nine games with so many stinkers on their schedule though. That's one reason I think the Irish are not a realistic option. Hope I'm wrong.

If we add UCONN or Rutgers to the ACC then we deserve to be a national joke in football and I agree that ND would not go for that pod.

I would have ND in a pod with Navy, Pittsburgh and Boston College with Maryland, UVa, VT and Syracuse in a pod, the Carolina schools in a pod and the 4 southern schools in a pod. ND gets its traditional rivalries, the DC market teams stay together for easy travel, Carolina schools have easy travel and traditional rivalries, and we are guaranteed big TV games every year in the southern pod.
