what happens to that? Couldn't that just become the game they use for National Championship? Anybody think that anyone will out bid Jerry for the National Championship?
I still don't get why they don't move the Big 4 Bowls to New Years Day when people can attend them again. Then play home games at the highest ranked two teams home for the semis and then the National Championship in Dallas in the middle of the country by June 15th. Most kids aren't even back in class by the 15th and the ones that are have barely even started their classes and can easily catch up...unlike the NCAA Basketball tournament when they are in the middle of the semester.
If you need to cut a 1AA school game...get it done, this all just seems like such a no brainer to me. I mean Major League Baseball doesn't play REAL minor league teams unless it is an exhibition.

So if they use the 4 current bowls (Orange, Fiesta, Sugar, Rose)...the Champions Bowl

My money is on Cotton replacing Fiesta. Fiesta is a nice bowl but it is a pain in the butt for anyone not in P10 to get there. Orange will remain just because of # of teams east of Mississippi.
Otherwise totally agree on the NYD thing. I actually watch fewer BCS games than I used to - before it was a good solid 2.5 (passed out during Orange Bowl growing up).

Agree. Have semi-finals at 2 of the BCS bowl sites on New Year's Day and play the championship game 7 to 10 days later on a Saturday evening. Hopefully the BCS and NFL can work out a time slot for the championship game since it would fall during the early rounds of the NFL Playoffs. Maybe NFL can play games at noon and 3:30 and BCS championship game at 8?

My money is on Jerry getting Dallas Stadium for National Championship and it has been reported that there will not be anything called a BCS Bowl. They will either be called a Bowl, Playoff game or the National Championship game.
Dallas is an easy and fairly inexpensive flight from almost everywhere in the country.

Yep. They could have the semi's a couple of weeks after the conference championships at home fields. Then play the BCS games on NYD and the championship the following Saturday, or something along those lines. I don't get why they want to have these playoff games at the bowls.

I don't think there are going to be "BCS Bowls" if a playoff is implemented. From what I understand, the former BCS bowls that aren't hosting a playoff game are just going to be bowls with automatic tie-ins that pay out a lot more money. Now, the bowls for the #1 and #2 team are going to host the semifinals, and the others will just host their conference champion, or at-large choice if their team is the visitor in a playoff game.
It's also my understanding that the Fiesta/Sugar ties to the Big XII-II-II+II/SEC are being superseded by this new Champions Bowl, so that would be a playoff host if an SEC or Big XII-II-II+II team is #1 or #2. As for where it is, that's probably going to be bid out (after the National Championship is bid out for that year), and will generate a lot of additional money for the two conferences. That's part of the angst that is causing the ACC headaches, the additional money to those conferences that the ACC is essentially shut out of.
Now, what I'd *like* to see is the two semifinal games be played at 5pm and 8:30pm on New Year's Day, and have all other bowls kickoff no later than 1pm on NYD. (No post-NYD games other than the National Championship.) That would shift a few major bowls to NYE, I think, but that would be a lot better for the fans. And then I'd like to see a deal worked out where the National Championship gets played on two Saturday's from NYD (basically between 7 and 13 days). That conflicts with NFL playoffs, but it would be an early round, and it would be nice if NFL can be negotiated with to allow this, because it would eliminate the post-NYD weekday game.
Edit: Basically just what Old Line Hokie said above.Last edited by Freddyburg Hokie; Wed Jun 20 2012 at 12:57 PM.

They won't call the playoffs bowls, but they will be played most likely in the Rose Bowl stadium etc. It is more semantic than a change of venue.
