Stanford WBB coach Tara VanDerveer's opinion on Weaver's hire sounds like sour grapes to me. She says her and many of her female colleagues would love to see Dennis Wolff fail but that wouldn't be fair to the women who play for him. I wonder what Billi Godsey and Chantelle Anderson think about her comments? I'd love to see Tech upset Stanford in the NCAA Tournament in the near future.
Hoping that VT WBB fails or Wolff fails is a sad commentary on some coaches. Wolff does have women on his staff who may prove to be head coach material that can step into his shoes at a later date. It would be better for top coaches like VanDerveer to help out the women in the profession by teaching them how to manage a program. Beth Dunkenberger did not figure out that management part.
