I think there was a lot more to Bama getting picked last year than "They lost to the #1 team". I think people were looking at the players on the team and how well they played against the teams that they faced. That being said, the case for Stanford's inclusion being equal to Bama's inclusion is weak at best. I think you can easily justify a committee's picking Bama but not Stanford last year.
