But it's not a playoff game. Some conferences don't have a CG, but its top team could still lose their final conference game and still be the conference champion, like it's happened to Ohio State, USC-w, and Michigan in the past. So why would you allow a conference champion that loses its final conference game into a play-off, but not allow one that loses the conference CG. It is effectively the same thing, no?
I am admittedly too lazy to look it up right now, but how many conferences don't have a championship game now?
