How can you say that? It's way too soon to tell.

Well done Weaver. We lost a decent coach and two highly touted recruits. Yes we have lost players in the past under Greenebrg, but not this caliber.
I definitely agree Weaver chose a bad to fire seth and went about it in a horrible way. If it didn't play out so bad publicly, and took place earlier, maybe we'd have a chance to scoop up a couple more recruits.

My biggest grudge against Greenberg was that he appeared to overwork the payers, many injuries. The boring motion offense worked to keep us in games with opponents with better players.
Not sure how 30 seconds of passing around the perimeter followed by a weak drive or poor shot kept us in games with better players?

Our PPG will increase by 2 and our losses will increase by 10.
Again, how do you know this? JJ is a very defensive minded coach, so I see our Defense staying at the same level. Why are you so convinced the offense won't improve?

The simple fact is that Blacksburg is NOT a basketball school. The alumni are too far away to travel in and the students in general do not care. I say students as a whole, not the ones reading this board in the summer.

Football is an event. Basketball is a 2 hour game.

Our best years are behind us.
Yes and no. If the team gets ranked and does well, I promise students will show up to a Tuesday night VT/NCst game. That being said, if the team does poorly, attendance will drop off. Unfortunately, the team feeds off the crowd...

I really think if the team can string together 2-3 NCAA qualifying seasons in a row, you will see a BIG change in the way BBall is viewed by both students, Alums and recruits. Unfortunately, this is not at all an easy task.

Although I was not a fan of the manner in which Seth was fired, I think he had reached his (not VT's) ceiling. Coaches and other educated basketball personalities everywhere have raved about JJ and said he will be a great head coach some day. Hopefully he can bring to VT what Beamer, Coach K, Rick Barnes, etc. have brought to their respective programs.

Does this mean that we're bringing in a "Big" from Russia?

Actually, I was way ahead of the pack in suggesting SG should go and the sooner the better.

Not sure you have had time to pick up your jock strap yet.

Most objective people could see that he was self imploding and his actions reflected badly on VT.

That's not to say that he didn't help the program in the beginning, but at some point the negatives exceed the positives.

What is disturbing is that you and some others actually praised him for these obviously self destructive propensities.

Having said that, Weaver was slow to react, and made things worse by the way it was handled.

He should have been let go about the third time that he whinned publicly about us not making the dance.

If that had been done, we would not be in this apparent hole that we find ourselves in.

JJ has been dealt a very difficult hand and if can turn this around in a few years, he will be a very hot commodity.

Virginia Tech no longer has a basketball program so none of it really matters. I honestly wonder if we could win the ODAC.
