It all depends on what was put down on paper and signed. If there is any language in there about ratification requiring TCU to actually join the Big East, then the conference has no case. TCU never joined. They are not, nor have they ever been, a member of the Big East. It takes a lot of gall to demand an exit fee from a school that was never a member of your organization.
