I remembered several years ago being surprised VT average in the mid 1350's. I was surprised by above figures. I have cousin in admissions & mentioned the above. She indicated.... two factors at play......one VT looks for well rounded/involved students (as opposed to just the SAT's ---plus she said one of the Va Governors implemented a rule (several years ago) that required those state universities( totally funded by the state) must accept any & all va community college graduates.
She said there were complaints statewide that Va Com Colleges were (or were considered ) to be inferior to the states main universities (by the public & by the top universities admissions offices---- as evidenced by low com college acceptance rate.) She said that pulled VT's average
down . UVA has had some success in fighting such transfers -- due to their medical & law school
graduates and the clout of fellow Hoo lawyers (some now state legislators) & the political power they are able to exert.
