Rivals Warchant report from today (free link)

Much more level headed reporting than those idiots from 247. If Barron gets to make the call, FSU is going nowhere. Also, Jim Lamar from Tally paper reporting that ACC payout was $17MM per team.

and what did FSU budget to get from the ACC this year? if it was $2.5MM less than than $17MM, then their budget problem is already solved...$17MM seems to be ~$2-3MM more than i would have expected given the fact that 2011-12 was still under the 1st year of the original ESPN deal. that would have paid ~$155MM averaged over 12 years, so i would guess somewhere in the $10MM range in year 1 knowing these things escalate. $7MM per school on top of that from the NCAA and bowls seems pretty high, even considering the BCS at-large which works out to ~$5-600k per school at best, so could the unexpected $2-3MM bump be from the mysterious Raycom profit share no one seems to know anything about? hmmmm

just had a thought, too. assuming we will get ~$14MM from ESPN in year 1 (2012-13) of the new deal which will average ~$17MM over the course of 15 years, that would be ~$4MM more than this year from ESPN. if the ACC really paid $17MM total this year, that would mean ~$21MM in 2012.

in 2011-12, we know the SEC paid $20.1MM/school. the B1G paid $23MM/school, and the Big12 paid $19MM/school with only 8 members receiving money and 2 exit fees being spread around.

is the ACC really behind everyone else at all? seems like we're right on par, and maybe we simply prefer not to thump our chest about the details of the money and where it comes from...

The difference in conf tv deals w/ ESPN/... is negligible imo. 10% or so difference per school just isn't meaningful or insurmountable. Dunno how B10 network fits in with all this.

'No formal contact.' There sure as heck has been informal contact. You can make book on that.

Been out of pocket a couple days. What have the "idiots from 247" been reporting?

Well, I probably should have qualified that better. The idiots from Clemson247. Mainly @Tim_Matty247 and @CFravel247. They have been constantly tweeting about "expansion nuggets" when all they are doing is requoting rumors from @TheDudeofWV, @TuxedoYoda, etc....the so-called expansion gurus. I am @PeninsulaHokie on Twitter and started to call them out, only saying things suck as #Big12 Twitter Campaign #fail. They quickly got on the defensive and started tweeting things like as% raping VT...win a BCS game then talk...etc etc. Classy bunch there at 247, I tell ya.

Speaking of Twitter...I received this direct message from a random Clemson fan FWIW:

I am a clemson fan addicted to this expansion stuff. Youre asking questions & calling these guys out like I wish I could. Keep it up!
    16h

So you want to stay in the ACC?

    16h
I usually try to avoid engaging in a twitter war but these guys are literally out of control.

    15h
I do. But not in a $10mill hole to the gamecocks or something. I live in charlotte, like going to games close by and all that

    15h
If it happens, it happens,.but these guys are so sure and smug with themselves. It drives me insane, but I read every word.

    15h
I honestly don't think that's the case. It was just announced that the ACC paid out $17MM per school, only $2MM less than the BIG12.

    15h
And that is with the Big12 receiving $30+MM from a&m and Mizz for exit fees. The $ is not that different. I think the decision makers know

    15h
I hope the ACC stays inact an I think it will. It's a great conference and the best place for both of us.

    15h
What do other fans think, aside from this twitter mob?

    12h
Overall people think I'm crazy even mentioning it. One friend is a message board junky, we're both concerened about

    12h
Being stuck out on an island in the east of that conference like a token member. Never go to a road game again.

    12h
A poll on tigernet was 60-40 go to big 12, but that's message boarders. I think it would be like a 2x4 to the head for average fan.

    12h
Average fan has no idea and would be shocked and maybe mad, its all message board twitterdom. Could be true, these twitter guys so sure tho

    12h
Thanks for sharing. Since we last chatted, @warchant_dc broke a lot of news about FSU meeting today. I don't think anyone is going anywher

    12h
and granted I know that's FSU, but I think Clemson decision will be largely based on what FSU does...

Classy is right. Sure they beat VT twice last year, but absolutely fell flat on their face in their only (I think) BCS game ever.
