VT doesn't have the gaping holes or question marks that it did those seasons. As I posted earlier in this thread, there are still some question marks, but nothing seems to be limiting the Hokies in a major way, like a first year starting QB, or being thin at LBer, or OL. Yes, our RB situation is a concern to the extent of knowing none have any game experience at the college level, but our QB and WR situation is strong. It is not to say our RB situation isn't strong, we just don't know. The number of talented RBs VT has is not an issue... VT should have 3 or 4 contributors, with two rising to the top. The RB position will be stronger by the end of the season, as has been the case at all positions, barring a major injury bug at the start of every season for quite a while.

VT faced BSU when BSU brought back all but one player from an undefeated season, while VT had to replace significant numbers of starters on each side. I don't know how many starters GT has to replace from last year, but they couldn't in the same position BSU was concerning personnel.

There is a tendency that VT fans have very good reasons that explain losses, and are at a loss to explain why so many important games end in losses. Try to explain the outcome of the Michigan game. It's sad, but VT played the better game, but weird things happened... some bad calls, some bad no calls, and other intangible things that factored into the final result.

I'm not thinking VT will go undefeated this season... as there is a month stretch in VT's schedule that the Hokies face 3 or 4 of its toughest opponents. It's not that each opponent is beatable, but the situation surrounding each of those games takes on a certain dynamic that isn't as easy to wrap our minds around. Again... too many unknows, but enough talent to be in each game, if not a favorite in most.

If outsiders want to think VT may have a down year because of losing 2 starting WRs and 4 starting OLmen... let them. Personally I think VT is a top 15 team, trying to as objective as possible. Sometimes I feel the experts hype VT up too much, but this year is the opposite IMO.

GT has been starting out strong... and knowing PJ, he will have plenty of surprises for the Hokies.
JMU was the 4 day turnaround coming off a disappointing Boise Game. We let Boise beat us twice.
We play ECU year after year after year and win the majority. Eventually the breaks have to go their way and they get a win now and then. Playing them on a nuetral field on a 90 degree+ day made for a perfect storm and they got the win. Congratulations to them.

Georgia Tech knows that their road to Charlotte goes through Blacksburg. That date is circled on their calendar. They will be ready but I still have faith in the Hokies. We win the ACC games that we have to have more often than not. Lane early in the season is tough on any visitor. Bud is getting a better and better handle on the Georgia Tech offense. LT is ready to take another step up and lead our young offense even farther than last year.
