No committment to any sport other than football, particularly with Dream Weaver heading the department. We are close in track. Until recently, just look at the minor sports facilities, they s..k, finally starting to upgrade them but very long way to go. We have had two chances with the two greatest VT athletes in control of the teams, Vick in football and Tincher in softball, but not enough minimal help to get it done. With any hitting at all, Tincher would have won the championship almost singlehandedly and with any defense ( strange to say ), Vick would have put enough points on the board to win. The future does not look good, changes in the sports championship formats make it harder to win unless you have dominant team. With any kind of football playoff system, we have no chance, we are lucky to win one major victory in a year much less two or more in a row. Golf may be one sport with a chance.
Dream Weaver has been the best thing that has ever happened for VT in regards to sports other than football. Past VT AD's didn't even fully know that sports not named football and basketball even existed at VT.
Dave Braine almost single handedly destroyed olympic sports at VT with the less-than-minimal "support" that he provided. Anything outside of football and basket ball to him was a mere after thought.
