nova111, you and I will have to agree to disagree on what a consensus is. I think 11-1 or 10-2 is enough of a majority that the final one or two will eventually flip their vote. I guess we will find out June 20th.
I tend to agree with this except it always depends on who the hypothetical dissenters are and how influential they are. In this case, it's clear that both the SEC and Notre Dame are in favor of including at a minimum one at-large bid. Those are two heavy hitters. In the end, I find it hard to believe that this playoff will only include conference champs. I would prefer that it did, as it would clearly enhance our chances of landing Notre Dame, but I don't think it will end up that way.
