Wow ... sounds like everyone is lucky to be alive in that one.

I hate it when truck drivers just decide that the rules don't apply to them. I was driving home two nights ago on a road that is three lanes on each side ... the traffic was moderate. A truck was in the left-most traffic lane (not the turn lane). When the light changed, it pulled out into the intersection and stopped until there was a break in the traffic on the other side, then went to go and do a U-turn. But it didn't have enough room on the other side, so now it is trying to back up with traffic driving on both sides (there was no green arrow). And all the guy had to do was go one more stop light and he would have been at the interstate where he could have driven one mile in either direction and gotten back on the road (the interstate parallels this road) ... but instead, he puts everyone at risk by doing a U-turn.

The semi bent the first vehicle (late model Chevy Silverado) into a Z shape, and drove it into an early 90s Ford Escort, which was propelled like it was shot out of a cannon into my little Toyota truck (breaking the rear axle spring & driving the rear wheel backward into the bed of the truck), which was driven into a Ford Explorer in the next lane. Everyone walked away relatively OK except for the guy in the Escort. Have a feeling he's probably the one with the lawsuit.

I had pretty bad bruises, and was hobbled for at least a month afterwards. Thankfully I was hit just behind the cab, otherwise I might have sustained a broken hip...or worse.

I remember it because I went out and bought another Toyota truck the following week. I would still be driving my 1994 Yota because it still felt as tight as the day I drove it off the lot. I just hope my 2008 is half as good...
