I don't read everything Ron Morris (The State) writes, but I have read some doozies from him in the past.
He first drew my attention when he wrote an article for the ACC Sports Journal in May of 2010 called "Realignment, Innovation, Promotion Needed to Revive ACC Basketball", in which he proposed:
1.) The ACC should split up into three divisions in hoops, and teams in a division should play each other three times ... and play teams from other divisions just once.
Wow.
2.) Scrap Sunday night hoops. Never mind that it was a huge ratings winner for the ACC at the time, and national exposure.
3.) Stop "wasting money" promoting football and go on a "national advertising blitz" promoting basketball.
4.) Adopt the trapezoidal lane and 24-second shot clock. That's right, play under completely different rules than the other 320 teams in Division 1A.
Now this ... the very definition of a basketball-centric writer (odd bird to be writing for a South Carolina newspaper, eh?) whistling past the graveyard. Good thing he's not the ACC commissioner:
ACC stands for more than just football
