Someone explain to me why academic relationships among universities have to be tied to an athletic conference. VT had cooperative relationships with ACC schools long before VT joined the ACC. Why would those suddenly end just because one school decides to put their athletic teams in a different conference. And who is to say VT could not create worthwhile and productive relationships with schools in the SEC or B1G.
Now geography is a different story. VT is centrally located within the ACC and can get to a lot of the other campuses via the interstates.
