ARE we the only ACC football focused school that will not listen to offers-Leadership

Both FSU and Clemson have made public statements that they are looking for a better deal and a football focused conference. They have even had statements to support the fact they are listening to offers from their Boards. We on
the other hand keep saying that the ACC will not change and we are happy with things. I sure hope we are being proactive and not trusting these other programs. We must sit a the big boy's table.

We are being pro active, we are just not lobbying publically for a date ..Does not mean we have a home if ACC folds but we seem to have a suitor or 2 if we need to move..imo

That is good to hear. I was very worried that we were waiting too long to discuss options.
Thanks for sharing. I just do not want us to get fooled into a false sense of security. I still feel the pain from the time the Big East did not admit us for basketball after leading us on. I guess I will never trust other programs or conference loyalty. It has happened to us a few times- Old Metro, Big East the first time and even when the ACC first were raiding the big east. If any school should not trust other schools it is VT.

This, IMO, is why VT should just go ahead and make the move to the SEC. We'd be guaranteeing ourselves a spot at the table, while giving the ACC an opportunity to expand their market with another school.

    Question. Do you think

    Assumptions:
    1) nd does not come to acc
    2) fsu and Clemson leave for big12

Does that trigger action by vt?

Next if it does and there is an offer from sec do we accept immediately or do we see if we can get invite to big 10

I hope we would accept immediately. I don't want that last lifeboat and risk missing all life boats.

hopefully if it goes, we go to SEC and not Big 10/12....just like the footprint and rivalry better in SEC...not to mention the warmer Saturdays in the south!

VT learned in the summer of 2003 to keep its mouth shut.

ABSOLUTELY, think our leaders are up to speed on this, Stegar got the pulse

Stegar being on the President's board is Huge. He gets to network with his peers, works it. He knows what's going on and he knows VT investment must be preserved. Sometimes in this business working quietly is the best.
