Here is what a 16-team SEC used four pods of four teams might look like. The teams in parentheses are the TWO yearly rivalry teams that a school would play every year. So a team would play 3 division games, 2 rivalry games, and then play 3 additional conference games that would rotate through the other divisions.

SEC South
Florida (Tennessee and Georgia)
Virginia Tech ( Missouri and Texas A&M)
South Carolina (Vanderbilt and Arkansas)
N.C. State (Missouri and Miss. State)

SEC East

Georgia (Florida and Auburn)
Tennessee (Florida and Alabama)
Kentucky (Miss. State and Texas A&M)
Vanderbilt (Ole Miss and South Carolina)

SEC Central

Alabama (Tennessee and LSU)
Auburn (Georgia and LSU)
Ole Miss (Vanderbilt and Arkansas)
Miss. State (Kentucky and N.C. State)

SEC West

Missouri (Virginia Tech and Kentucky)
Texas A&M ( Kentucky and Virginia Tech)
Arkansas (South Carolina and Ole Miss)
LSU (Alabama and Auburn)

So for VT, they would play Florida, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Missouri, and NC State every year. Then, they would rotate the additional teams. So their rotating schedule might look like this:
Years 1 and 2: Arkansas, Miss. State, and Tennessee
Years 3 and 4: LSU, Ole Miss, and Vanderbilt
Years 5 and 6: Auburn, Kentucky, and Georgia.
Years 7 and 8: Alabama, and some repeats from Years 1 and 2?

There would be some scheduling stuff to work out, but essentially a typical set of home games would include 2 or 3 from Florida, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Missouri, and NC State, and then 1 or 2 home games from the remaining schools. The WORST possible home schedule would be something like Missouri, NC State, Ole Miss, and Vanderbilt. That would still be on par with most of our ACC home schedules. Our best home schedule could be something like Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, and Auburn. That would be light years better than anything we've ever had as a home schedule.

In 7 out of 8 years, demand for tickets would likely be greater than it is today. JMO.
