Instead all of the comments about expansion are coming from the Big 12. You really need to ask yourself why this is being done this way when that is the exact opposite of the way expansion usually happens. To me it is pretty obvious. Let the miss-information out so that the fans start griping about leaving and then hope that teams start running for the exits.
They are taking what they learned about losing teams (4) and using it to get all the ACC schools paranoid and in their eyes running for the exits. Do you think it will work?

If you were the Big 12 wouldn't try to get teams without letting it out?

I think you bring up some good points. If you want to see people get out of a theater quickly just yell fire.
With the information coming out (mostly rumors) they are trying to get several schools to panic. And the sad thing is it just takes one head of cattle to cause a stampede. I'm glad board posters and bloggers are not making these important decisions. Also hoping the ACC offices know lots more than we do.

I think your theory has legs, Stech. To date, the only ACC party to open his mouth on the subject and say anything substantial is Haggard (FSU BOT chair), and he looks like a loose cannon.
In the blogosphere, the only ACC site that I see consistently beating the drum is Cemetery Hill, and it's almost like they're being fed talking points. You just gotta wonder.Last edited by Will Stewart; Wed May 23 2012 at 08:17 PM.

Yep and Haggard was wrong. An interesting thing I heard from a friend at FSU.
He said that the FSU fans don't want to leave the ACC, but the recent events have made them scared that the ACC was on the verge of falling apart. Got to give it to the Big 12, they have done a masterful job of creating paranoia in the ACC.

Agreed...I still think once FSU and Clemson do the math on the travel, the down grade in academic alliance and think they will be playing TCU, WVU, Iowa State versus VT, Miami, GT etc...it just doesn't make sense.

The Big12 and SEC are doing a good job of trying to destabilizing the ACC. Not as good of a job as the ACC did in destabilizing the Big East though ;-)
