Every year, my daughter's school has a huge auction/fundraiser. It's a black tie event and this year the scotch was flowing. I got caught up in the bidding and won the rights to rename one of the roads (private rd) on to school property from the main road.
A few yrs back the winners named it Crimson Tide Dr (white on red) and Bama wins the MNC. The next yr our friends win and name it War Eagle Dr (orange on blue) and Auburn wins the MNC. This school yr it's been named Semper Fidelis Way (yellow on red) - OORAH!
I've been thinking about it for months now, even before the auction, and I think I've decided on "
Hokie, Hokie, Hokie Hy-way" (orange on maroon). Any thoughts?
BTW - while its a small, independent, preparatory school, 450 kids, grades per-k to 12, very rarely does a student apply to, much less attend, VT. Most go to the schools in and around Mid-Atlantic (UNC, UNCW, Charlotte, Charleston, USC, Clemson, Duke, WF, UVa, W&M, Davidson, ASU, etc), but rarely VT. This yr we have a grad, the first in not so recent memory, scheduled to attend VT next fall. The headmaster was pretty excited, and sought me out at a school event a few weeks ago just to tell me.
