ND can and will do what it wants. If it wants to join the ACC AFTER Clemson and FSU leave, it will. If it wants to join the ACC now, to prevent FSU/CU from leaving, it will. If it wants to join the B12 or B10, it will. If it wants to stay indy, it will.

The ACC has put themselves in good position with Notre Dame. The Big 12 wants them badly. If by taking some schools from the ACC, this might make the ACC less attractive for ND. They are scared of what kind of TV contract the ACC could command with ND in the ACC. If the ACC stays together and possible get ND, money problems wouldn't be a problem. They are trying to weaken the ACC to force ND to join either the Big 10 or Big 12.
