Posts in recent weeks have alluded to how poorly VT is perceived by the people running or coaching AAU, particularly DC and Tidewater-based teams. What is behind that? Is it/was it CSG? VT in general due to the program's lack of national/tournament success?
As I understand it SG hates the AAU scene. As the other posters alluded to, we haven't been willing to play their games in the past so Tech probably isn't viewed as a lucrative place to steer recruits.
I really hate how involved AAU is in college basketball. It doesn't help develop players, some of the coaches are questionable individuals and they have a tremendous influence on where these guys attend college.
Not really sure what could be done about at this point though.
