end of the day, it isn't worth it imo. in the grand scheme of things, unless we go to 4x 16tm leagues as mandated by the US Congress, there will be 5 conferences - distances, interests, etc will maintain that. B1G doesn't want more teams. P10 doesn't want more teams unless tu decides to move west. SEC is probably happy where they are. So who is left? If B12 wants FSU/CU, then ACC picks up some combination of ND/UConn/SUNJ. Odds are B12 also picks up Lewsiville and Cincy to get to 14 teams.

End of the day, nothing changes. You still see the same teams lining up to play VT (losing a home game vs FSU every 4 years doesn't even register as a meaningful loss to me). We still have a great home for our athletics (easy drives to MD, UVA, WF, Dook, UNC, + NCSU for most folks in our "core") and a home that fits. People are trying to make things too hard.

Yeah except most VT fans don't want to go to those games.

Neither need any convincing...that phase is done.
A lot of people on the Clemson boards are saying they're Big 12 (or whatever it is) bound, and that VT is the SEC's first choice. I peek in on their board quite often and have learned who to give credence to when they post. These posts are coming from some of those people.

So it is time for NC State, UNC, UVa and VT to either fish or cut bait. None of them had better not wait too long to decide because there are only two empty spaces left on the dance card.

NC State and VT would be my first two choices. I see them fitting our "profile" more than any other "available" ACC teams. They are state schools with colleges of agriculture and on campus stadiums. OK, but NC State's is close enough.

No doubt it would be a tough move for both schools. All public North Carolina colleges and universities operate under one system and everyone remembers all the legal maneuvering that took place to get VT a seat at the ACC table. However, it could be done and much like Texas A&M they both could stand on their own rather than being associated with other instate schools.

I just don't see UNC leaving Duke and I just don't see the SEC taking both. I think an offer will extend to one school each from North Carolina (with Duke being the third choice) and Virginia. Although I don't like the idea if worse comes to worse I could also see Maryland getting an invite to reach 16 teams.
I agree completely LSU Tiger. If they had asked me, we'd already BE in the SEC. SEC is the "Lead Dog". The problem is that unless you ARE the lead dog, the view never changes....I'd hate to spend my days looking at another dog's butt!!

I hoped for the SEC back when we were flirting with the ACC. I'd have preferred the SEC back then! I'm a football guy. Basketball is something to me that you do between football and spring football! ACC is a BB Conference FIRST! That will never change! Problem is, although I'm not the only one, there appear to be too many (including perhaps the MOST influential Hokies) who coveted the ACC for so long, that they plan to ride it all the way to Second Tier status.. I hope I am wrong!! I really hope I am wrong!

Would be very cool to see Frank coach in and win 3 different leagues during his career, all while at VT.

I think the Big Ten wants Georgia Tech and, if I ran Georgia Tech, that's where I would want to go if the ACC broke up. Problem for the Big Ten is which four of the following five schools to select to reach 16: Notre Dame, UVa, UNC, Duke and Georgia Tech. Maryland might have an outside shot in lieu of UVa. I think the UNC/Duke combo is almost a sure thing for the Big Ten. I know Duke football blows, but the Big Ten would take that albatross to get into the Carolina market and have basketball matchups between UNC, Duke, and the traditional B1G hoops schools like Indiana.

If this continues, lots of folks in the SEC East are going to miss playing Bama and LSU on a frequent basis . . . .

Must just be me but I like the ACC, I really do. I like playing Pitt, Syr, MD, UVA, UNC, NCSU, WF, BC, etc (all but Dook really). I like the way the conference feels.
