reasoning behind JJ and staff's selecting/recruiting a point guard at this point when he will have to sit out one year?

I know he gets to practice with our 2012-13 team which helps him learn the system before he actually plays for us in competition. and helps our eligibles get better.

I expected JJ and staff to find someone who could play significant substitute minutes for us this season (2012-13) by the time we got through the OOC season.
