Have you ever left a job...

Knowing that you'll be leaving a group or organization in a lurch(because they're in a constant state of panic/hurry up)?

Did you get confronted by management for that fact? Your response?

I'm about to do just that. However, I can only look out for myself. The company has shown no remorse in looking out for their best interests, therefore I can't either. Do I feel a bit of guilt for my team members? Sure, but I can't be overly concerned about that.

Yes, for several reasons, I was only able to give my last job a 1 week notice. Total shock to them that I was leaving, but they understood why (trading my 4+ hr roundtrip commute for a 40 minute roundtrip commute). It sucked for the management in the group, but they never showed any hostility towards me. Just remain professional in all of your communication even if they choose to take the low road.

Nope..... changed jobs/organizations 3 times and each time stayed in the old one longer that needed to make sure and tie up loose ends, etc before going to the new job...... respect to the job/people I was leaving....

i've left 1 job and gave them 6wks notice because a project was in wrap up mode and they needed assistance. 2 days later, they cancelled the remaining tasks and I was left feeling stupid. As such, give them 2-3wks notice and call it good. If they're always in panic mode, it won't matter if you give them 2 years notice.

My thoughts exactly. They're especially in a lurch if this pans out because the guy who is supposed to be my boss just got hired and is getting acquainted with this place after being somewhere for 20 years and we have a graduate engineer coming on at the end of may as well as an intern. At least, if i leave, I'm leaving them with warm bodies that can take my place. If not warm bodies that are acquainted with this place.

Not your problem. That is a management failure.

How much notice do you think they would give you if they had to cut costs or reduce expenses?

Their turmoil won't change my decision. I'm just curious as to what the response will be. It will be a shock. No doubt about that.
