so by that logic, any time someone takes advantage of the system, only the system should be questioned. The person doing it is not accountable at all if they can get away with it. Hmmm.
And by the way, I still don't see how a kid up to his eyeballs playing college football, whether 3 hours or 3 minutes from home, can be of any help to his grandparent in need. Sadly that kid would simply have to give up playing college football to be by granny's bedside. I haven't seen whether that option is being discussed by the simms family

The questioning of this situation is getting nauseating. He's transferring. The NCAA will allow or deny the request based on its merits. There appear to be more denials than approvals, based on results posted when googling the issue. If a waiver request is allowed, why question the kid? Question the NCAA if the result is unsubstantiated.
I don't think they would grant an application based on an ailing grandparent for a player who grew up with his parents. Hardship requests are usually for things like a parent undergoing cancer treatment and the player needs to help care for siblings. If they granted one based on a grandparent it would have to be a situation where the grandparent was the head of the household.

When someone pitches a fit based on a premature and likely incorrect assumption "in the real world", it would not be out of line to tell them to stop whining.

the difference here is that this is a message board for banter and the assumptions are most definitely NOT likely to be incorrect. You have to be pretty naive and/or PC to think this is anything other than a move for playing time. In fact its laughable to even doubt that. His own high school coach basically stated it as such.
    So I guess I'm a whiner

The incorrect assumption is that you think the NCAA will do anything more than wipe their bungholes with his transfer request. But on the topic of whether he actually has a hardship, would it be that big of a deal to give him the benefit of the doubt? his basis will be made public soon enough and you can ridicule him all you want at that point. or if you really want to make fun of him, just talk about how ugly he is.

haha. Thats a pretty good reset. Can't argue there. The hardship may be that his looks are more compatible with UVa coeds than the Bama coeds. From that standpoint I actually think the NCAA should grant the request

Do you honestly think that he would be transferring if he were the starting QB at Alabama?
