I'm getting annoyed at the preseason polls I have seen. I look at this VT team and see one of the three best defenses we have ever had, a transcendent QB, a rebuilt OL and enough playmakers at WR and RB. I think we are a national title contender.

But, looking at all the preseason polls I have seen thus far, the national media doesn't see us that way.

Look at Andy Staples list from this week. I would argue we should be around 7th. LSU, USC, Bama and OU I would put clearly ahead of us. Oregon lost their QB and star RB. USCe returns a great defense and a RB. UGA returns a lot, and has significant suspensions to deal with. WVU looks good, but look at their schedule. That's an 8-4 team. I would rank Wisconsin (assuming DOB is the QB), Arkansas (assuming JLS doesn't screw it up) and TCU above us. But, TCU (like WVU) is ratcheting up their competition this year.

Maybe it is reflective of this 2nd tier, where Ore, USCe, UGA, WVU, Wisky, Ark, TCU, MSU, Mich, Stan, Clem, FSU, and VT are all about the same. Maybe it is reflective of our inability to win the big game, but really, has USCe, UGA and FSU won a big game recently?

I'm just a bit annoyed. I want to see someone rank us fifth. I want to see some sportswriter in Kalamazoo Michigan vote us #1 in the AP poll. I want to see some excitement here, this looks like a really good team to me.
