lol. So much for luring that big name coach that is going to make us instantly relevant on the national stage.
I wish Coach Johnson the best and I really think he will do a great job at Tech....but this whole process has been a crock.
Those of you that insisted that firing Greenberg would produce many more NCAA tournament appearances will most likely have to wait a while longer.

So we ended up hiring the assistant coach of the guy we just fired...

No one that actually has information on the program ever said we would hire a big name coach. In fact the people that are connected on this board have said from the start this job is a tough sell unless we are going to pony up big time money.
The issue is there are too many folks that want to believe their own opinion and aren't willing to listen/hear anything to the contrary.Last edited by AnotherTechW; Mon Apr 30 2012 at 01:06 PM.

So why the hell did we fire Greenberg if we knew we couldn't hire someone?

If you were a Duke fan, would you have been upset in 1979 when they announced that they'd just hired a little-known head coach from Army named Mike Krzyzewski to take over their program? Would you have fumed and whined like you're doing now because "We didn't hire a BIG name"?
Or what about Brad Stevens at Butler? He was an assistant there before being given a shot at the head job, and he took them to a Final Four. It was his first head coaching gig ever.
Shaka Smart, who has been giving everybody woodies here for the last week, had never held a head coaching position either before being hired by VCU in 2009.
I could give you a whole lot more examples, but hopefully you understand the point I'm trying to make.Last edited by Hokiestud; Mon Apr 30 2012 at 01:25 PM.

My advice to you would be to drink heavily and move forward. WADR, each and every post from you seems to be about placing blame, complaining about how Seth was fired, etc.
We all know how you feel about the events, you've made your points clearly and Weaver will be out in a couple of years, sooner if his health continues to fail so I can't really see the logic of continuing to obsess about this every day.
