This would be a good time to for the AD to review the bb ticket policies to help vest the student body in the bb program. Have/had two kids at Tech and neither they nor their friends are very current on VT bb. They have over their years attended a game (one through a season ticket holder's tickets) but their reaction to the recent firing was telling by their disinterest. (For Football, they are completely tuned in). I've asked about the ticket lottery and the response was if you get a ticket none of your friends probably did so you're there without your buddies. When they are/were home during the holidays, they just weren't interested enough to watch a Tech game on tv and if they watched, did not know the players. The home games on tv show a full and loud student body at one end but also empty seats behind the benches. Maybe instead of selling season tickets, the AD could let the eligible alums cherry pick their games leaving other games available for students. If this frees up tickets, allot the student lottery winners four tickets.
And btw, please do not let anyone use the excuse that Tech is not centrally located or stuck in the boonies as a reason for lack of bb success. You have a fine school with new and traditional facilities and are on tv plenty. You just need the right coach and staff and JW realized this.

I agree. It always looks bad when the camera shows those empty seats.
Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.

UNC actually re-seated some of there highest paying contributors because Duke games looked so much better on TV than UNC games. It was making a big difference in recruiting and even the TV audience. Two things that drive these programs a great deal...as we all know.

NO it's actually a great place to put them. Our families and players' guests sit behind out bench too BTW. It is to keep loud mouthed obnoxious fans from bothering the players and coaches. Otherwise there would be cursing, spitting, "accidentally" spilled drinks, plus who knows what all.
I don't always talk to UVa Grads but when I do I always order the Large Fries.

Duke and UNC don't do it. Move them and put high paying contributors behind them. There is another side to the court that doesn't get the camera shots...put them there like all the big time programs do. I mean we are promoting the other team with the TV shots...you might think that is great, but it is bad for VT and helps the other team. That should not be our goal.
